The several men’s and women’s ˝klapa˝ a capella groups that are active in Podstrana (Praska, Ankora, Kurjože) and the century-old Croatian Catholic Music Association are both witness to the region’s dedication to traditional music forms.
The klapa festival that is held as part of the Summer of Culture, the celebration of the Day of the Municipality of Podstrana on the feast day of Saint Anthony (13 June), its patron saint, and the folk celebrations on St George’s Day (23 April) and Staro Jurjevo, St George’s Day according the old calendar (03 May) are dates when the singers and musicians of Podstrana regularly showcase their talents.
Concerts of classical, spiritual and popular music are also organised as part of the programme of Summer of Culture, or in honour of the Day of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and other important holidays.
The organ player Rev. Ivan Urlić and the guitarists Srđan Bulat and Petar Čulić are among the more regular perofrmers. Concerts are held at the Church of Our Lady of Sita, in Porat in Sv. Martin, on the parking lot in Strožanac and on the playground of the Petrićevo Sports Centre.
